In a landmark move to align with global educational standards and enhance student success, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially announced that the CA Final examination will now be conducted three times a year — in January, May, and September.
This historic decision, taken by the 26th Council of ICAI, marks a major shift from the traditional biannual examination system.
With this update, all three levels of the Chartered Accountancy course — CA Foundation, CA Intermediate, and CA Final — will now follow the same thrice-a-year exam cycle. ICAI had already implemented the triannual exam system for Foundation and Intermediate levels in 2023. This synchronization ensures a consistent and streamlined exam calendar, benefiting lakhs of students across India.
Alongside the CA Final change, ICAI has also revamped the schedule for its Post Qualification Course in Information Systems Audit (ISA). The ISA Assessment Test, earlier conducted twice annually (June and December), will now be held three times a year — February, June, and October. This provides ICAI members more flexibility and accessibility to upskill and specialize in emerging areas like Information Systems Audit.
More Exam Opportunities: Reduced waiting time between attempts.
Global Alignment: Brings ICAI's exam structure closer to international accounting bodies.
Faster Career Progression: Students can qualify in a shorter timeframe.
Increased Accessibility: Particularly beneficial for working professionals and repeat candidates.
