Turnover

Indirect Taxation

answered on 28-Jan-24 17:49

What is the real meaning of turnover? I thought that turnover means sales of the enterprise only. One more doubt- the exact reason why gst and cess, inward supply (RCM) is not part of the aggregate turnover because it is payment!!!

latest answer

Generally turnover means excluding taxes since taxes are just collected and paid to the Government as an intermediary. With respect to inward supplies, it is not outward turnover instead it is inward.

Aggregate turnover

Indirect Taxation

answered on 26-Jan-24 11:13

In Composition levy scheme it's mentioned that inter state outward supply is not allowed - answer is yes But after getting registered for CLS, will we consider inter state supplies for the calculation of aggregate turnover.

latest answer

Note Aggregate turnover includes inter state supply. But if you are registered under composition scheme, and you make any inter state supply, then you ceases to be pay tax under composition scheme.

Painting cost

Financial Reporting

answered on 26-Jan-24 08:01

Sir, but there will be no future economic benefit flowing from painting the building then how is it logical to capitalise even if it is for more than one period

latest answer

Now that paint has a lesser useful life and when you redo the painting you again capitalise it because of two reasons- 1. The cost is not for 1 year but for many years. 2. There is no direct economic benefit but more of administrative benefit. Also a freshly painted building will sell for more (just to evaluate benefits)
