Net Asset Value

answered on 07-Mar-24 20:23

Whether Net Assets and Net Asset value same?

latest answer

We are trying to value equity shares - why will we include value of debt in it? In this question there is not debt at all so it does not matter but for any business valuation question whether they call it as net assets or nav, when it comes to equity valuation you exclude value of debt. Secondly in business valuation, you do not compute Net assets value with book values but consider fair / realizable / market value of all assets less market value of liabilities less contingent liabilities - in this question since market values are not known we consider book values

Question on deductions u/s 54 and 54F of income tax act.

Direct Taxation

answered on 11-Mar-24 12:31

1. In considering the amount of LTCG amount invested u/s 54 and 54F, can we consider the stamp duty and registration value as well in calculation. For example, the LTCG is 50 lacs and assessee invests in a residential property of 46 lacs and stamp duty and registration is 4 lacs. Is it OK to include stamp duty value of 4 lacs as well in the amount invested or only the 46 lacs which is the purchase value?

latest answer

It can be considered since stamp duty is also a part of the cost.
