latest answer
These are just 2 kind of shares. Shares as well know is a part of share capital. Equity shares give ownership rights in the company and shareholders thus enjoy voting rights as well. Preference shares are ones which get preference in payment of dividend which is generally fixed for them. At time of winding up too, preference shareholders get priority. Equity shareholders are paid in last depending on whatever surplus remains. News that you listen around that share of a company rose by so much and fell of other, that's about equity share of company.

In conversion of debenture into equity shares, why they are divided by 10? It's already split equity shares of rupees 10 each into 5 equity shares of rupees 2.
latest answer
Rs. 10 per share is the issue price. Here Rs. 2 / per share will only go to Equity share capital, Rs. 8 goes to Securities Premium Reserve

In case of joint liability, the partners are treated as one single unit i.e., the firm and a creditor can file a suit against the firm if his money is not paid to him on due date. In case of sevaral liability, each partner is liable to a specific amount to the creditor. So in case of default by any partner, the creditor can sue only that partner. In case of joint and several liability, each partner is both jointly and severally liable. So, if any partner becomes insolvent, the creditor has the right to recover his money from other partners. In this case, he can sue both the firm and that partner in default . Am I correct ? Can the creditor in case of insolvency of any partner make liable the other partners? ( Joint and several liability) Pls explain.
