Doubt in national income

Economics

answered on 28-Apr-22 10:36

How are the following transactions treated in NI calculation Electricity sold to steel plant Car manufacturer procuring parts from market Computer producer buys robot produced in same country and uses it for prodn of computers??

latest answer

Check Question 2b from RTP May 2020 for more details. 1)Electricity sold to a steel plant will not be included in national income calculation. The underlying principle is that only finished goods and services which are directly sold to the consumer for final consumption would be included. 2)Components procured from the market by a car manufacturer will not be included in national income calculation because these are intermediate goods used in car production. 3)Robot bought by a computer producer for use in the production of computers would be included in national income calculation because the computer producer is the "final consumer" of the robot and the robot is not resold in the market after value addition
