How is a supplier of goods supposed to quote prices?
Indirect Taxation
answered on 11-May-22 18:23
Is there any mandatory requirement for suppliers of goods to quote amount including tax. I feel this should be there because when they initially quote a price, they do not include GST. But at the time of billing they add GST extra. now the customer of the good feels the price to be a bit high. Then the supplier comes with an offer of not including GST, but the customer should sacrifice the invoice(he wouldn't need it since he is end consumer) and pay in cash only. This supplier would now sell this invoice to a registered person who can claim ITC. (bill trading) How is the government preventing this apart from penalty provisions in LAW. I have experienced this issues particularly at furniture shops i.e. places where the customer has little/no knowledge about the prices. since goods can't be compared with another furniture.(models vary)
latest answer
As per law, he is supposed to quote the basic price + GST. However, practically different kinds of transactions are undertaken.

In capital emolyed formula, Net assets or Capital emplyoed = Net worth + Debt. In such that, net worth means only Equity share holders fund. Right? My doubt is While speaking about capital employed why they didn't speak about preference shares?
latest answer
Return on Capital can be computed from 3 points of view: (a) Equity Shareholders point of view: Here you will only consider the capital that belongs to Equity shareholders. (b) All the shareholders point of view: Here you will consider both the equity shareholders funds and preference capital (c) Long term Funds point of view: Here you will consider Equity funds, Preference Capital as well as Long term debt. All in All the game is on the user of financial statement. If you are an Equity Shareholder, you'll need first rate of return. If you are preference shareholder, the second rate of return will be more relevant. If you are a debenture holder or bank the last rate is more relevant

To FG Control AC But in Illustration 2 pg. 7.13, journal entry for finished goods sold is: Cost of Sales a/c dr To fg control AC Can we not put account debited to be "cost of sales" in both the above cases ? Getting confused.....

But in this question, if you see icai material, there is no cost of sales account prepared in the answer, they directly transferred it to costing p&l account but if you want you can prepare cost of sales account also.
