Sir, In this sum, whether it has been assumed as dividend paid at the last day? That's why we have taken actual dividend as future value of dividend? [Video Time Stamp: 13:36]

Expiry date

Sir, If the maturity period of future contract is 2 months. If I square off it as on expiry date - That future contract no longer exists. But if I square it off before the expiry, the future contract still exists till the expiry date, its like trading the future contracts. (i.e. the ownership of that future contract transferred from me to someone else who bought from me, but in earlier case - that specific future contract loses its existence as on expiry date). Am I right, sir? [Video Time Stamp: 12:26]

Squaring off before expiry date

AFM

answered on 05-Mar-26 10:40

Sir, Mr. A entered into long stock futures at Rs.80 with an expiry date of 30th Sept. Case 1: Square off on 30th Sept , future price on that date = Rs.96 In this case, we can say that he can buy at Rs.80 and sell at Rs.96 in the market (as it is the spot rate) and can make a gain of Rs.16. Case 2: Square off before expiry date. Future price as on that date - Rs.96 In this case, how can we say that he can buy at Rs.80 and sell at Rs. 96 in the market, as we know that the spot rate and future prices will not be same as on that date. If that is the case, difference between agreed rate (i.e. 80) and spot rate as on square off date only to be treated as the gain know sir. Why are we taking diff between agreed date and future price as on square off date? [Video Time Stamp: 10:12]
