In the topic of professional skepticism, If the auditor critically assess the auditor evidence and checks if the documents are geniune, i) Does it take the character of investigation? ii)The fact of checking the genuineness of documents violates the scope of audit? As the scope of audit, does not include investigation and checking genuineness of documents. Do the underlined words in the picture indicate the character of investigation?

Nope. Critical assessment of audit evidence means being more alert in the given situation. You are right about authenticity of document, as that is out of our scope. But somethings are apparent and can be checked through more cautious means. Investigation is thorough checking and checking to get conclusive evidence. Here we discuss about evidence obtained, a critical evaluation of the same .

Also, when we come across fraud risk, our approach takes the role of almost investigation. The Further audit procedure will be more detailed.
